Tread Notes

Tires do not wear out all at once. They wear unevenly, a little at a time, on the side that does the same work every day. Heads seem to do something similar, and the fix at the shop is old and simple.

Every set of tires that comes through our bay in Contagem gets the same small card: which wheel went where, and when to swap them again. Fronts carry the steering and the braking, so they wear on the shoulders; rears ride along and wear in a different pattern. Move them around on schedule and the whole set lasts longer and drives truer.

These notes take that card and turn it toward the person holding the keys. They are written for readers in the second half of life, men and women alike, who want to keep their attention steady and their days clear. None of it stands in for a doctor. It is shop talk, applied to mornings.

On this card

  1. 1
    Rotate the routine
Why the same route, the same chair and the same order of chores leave the mind on cruise control, and how to move them around on purpose.
  2. 2
    The morning gauge
A sixty second check before the day starts: sleep, water, a walk, and three things written down.
  3. 3
    The pocket card
Both habits on eight short lines, sized to sit in a wallet or on the fridge.
  4. 4
    The shop floor
Who writes this, how the site could earn in the future, what we keep about visitors, and the conditions of reading.

The company behind the bay also has a page about its own work, in English: what our tire and alignment shop actually does. A versão em português fica em lightfootmornings.com.
